I love this picture. It has two sides; a dark side and a happy tropical side. I am scared of deep water where I can't see/feel the bottom, and this picture just adds to it. One this that I don't really like is the birds. Unless you look closely, they look like a bunch of black dots. The dolphins are a nice touch, and the ships indicate that humans don't know anything about there being a creature under the isle. The octopus was only the second thing I saw, which really made the impact larger. First I only saw an island with some cheerful dolphins, and then I saw the octopus looming out from under. The sun is nice, it really illuminates the cheerful part, and reveals the octopus. I also like how the depth is nearly black, giving us an idea of how deep the ocean is compared to the octopus.
Great work, send me shivers down the spine. I always fear the deep sea, and this makes a perfectly gentle tropical isle seem so much worse. That being said, there are some minor things I think you could do better. The first is that the ship in the background is accompanied by two 'modern' sailing yachts in front of it. The two sails in front are actually part of them. Secondly I think the dolphins jumping out of the water are a great addition to the empty space in that part of the picture, but I wouldn't let them jump out of the water on the 'edge' of where the water hits the above/under water, if you know what I mean. And thirdly I think the birds are a bit 'random'. Either make some more or make them appear with less in the group. That's basically what jumps to mind on looking at this. Keep at it!
Fantastic, your works are always awe-inspiring. I love the steps to this one, there is much more needed than just a well known software - one gets the impression you know right from the beginning where you want to go and how to achieve that.
